SUBMISSIONS

WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO
We are the heart of English theatre in Montreal

The Segal Centre has proudly commissioned, developed, and produced new Canadian plays that have gone on to exciting futures. These include:

Sherlock Holmes
The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz: The Musical
Belles Soeurs: The MusicalProm Queen: The Musical
The Hockey Sweater: A Musical

Though we don’t actively solicit new scripts, we are always on the lookout for plays that serve our mandate and will engage, challenge, and excite our audiences.
In our programming, we are specifically interested in:

• inventive new musicals with Canadian content

• bold, contemporary works, notably ones with Jewish themes

• classic plays that remain fresh and relevant

• crowd-pleasing comedies that are witty and relevant

• theatrical adaptations of beloved stories from other genres

• plays of all kinds that actively engage with the diversity of our community

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will send an acknowledgement of your script submission so you’ll definitely know that we got it. We generally cannot offer dramaturgical feedback and will only contact those writers whose scripts we’re interested in.

Due to the amount of submissions we receive and how busy we can get during our production season, responses can take up to several months. We thank you very much for your patience.
