FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS IN GRADES 2 & 3
Thursdays, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | 2 sessions
Session 1: September 12, 2019 – December 5, 2019
Session 2: January 9, 2020 – March 26, 2020
$450/session, you can register for one or both sessions, there is an in-class presentation at the end of each session.

Our beginner Broadway Stars class is for students who are new to the Segal Academy and who are in grades 2 & 3. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of theatre and will begin their training in three disciplines- singing, acting and dancing. Our overall goals, through the use of Art Education, are: enhanced speaking ability, better listening skills, improved reading comprehension, increased confidence, a developed sense of empathy and a clear understanding how important teamwork is.

FOR RETURNING STUDENTS IN GRADES 3 & NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS IN GRADE 4
Wednesdays, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | Full year course
Starts the week of October 16 and runs until May 2020
$500/session (2 sessions | Students must attend both sessions) + $50 one time costume fee

Our intermediate Broadway Stars class is for RETURNING students in grades 3 & new and returning students in grade 4. This program offers training in classic and contemporary Broadway musical theatre and culminates with an end of year showcase. In addition to the performing arts training, our goals are to help students develop many important life skills such as: teamwork, empathy, positive self-esteem and improved confidence.

 

BROADWAY STARS 3 | Intermediate
FOR RETURNING STUDENTS IN GRADES 3 & NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS IN GRADE 4
Mondays, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | Full year course
Starts the week of October 28 and runs until May 2020
$500/session (2 sessions | Students must attend both sessions) + $50 one time costume fee

This program offers training in classic and contemporary Broadway musical theatre and culminates with an end of year showcase. This intermediate Broadway Stars class is for students in grades 5-7. This program offers training in classic and contemporary Broadway musical theatre and culminates with an end of year showcase. BROADWAY STARS 6 | Advanced | AUDITIONS REQUIRED*
FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 5-8
Mondays, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | Full year course
Starts the week of October 28 and runs until April 2020
$500/session (2 sessions - students must attend both sessions) + $50 one time costume fee

This advanced program offers training in classic and contemporary Broadway musical theatre and culminates with an end of year show. Previous shows include: Aladdin Jr., Cinderella, Annie, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Xanadu Jr., and Alice in Wonderland. Our mission is to provide the highest calibre of performing arts education to students and to foster individual growth in a caring, supportive artistic environment.

 

BROADWAY AND BEYOND | AUDITIONS REQUIRED*
FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 7-11
January 2020 – April 2020
Thursdays, 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. + Sundays, 10:00 A.M -1:00 P.M.
Starts January 9, 2020
$1200/session (1 session) + $50 one time costume fee, plus tax for students 15+

For teens who want to expand their love of musical theatre, Broadway and Beyond is where the serious young actor comes to take their game to the highest level and learns what it takes to put on a professional level production. Previous shows include: Into the Woods, Captain Aurora: A Superhero Musical and Disaster! the musical.

 

YAYA Kids (Young Actors for Young Audiences) - CLASS IS FULL! Please click here to be placed on the waiting list
FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 2-5
Wednesdays, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. | Full year course
Starts the week of October 16 and runs until June 2020
$375/session (2 sessions) + $50 one time costume fee

The YAYA course provides musical theatre training through theatre-based exercises and games from the perspective of Jewish heritage and Yiddish culture. The first session focuses on storytelling, building trust within the ensemble, tactic and objective work and character development. The students are introduced to the Yiddish language through song. The second session will focus on the production as they work through the script, putting all the elements of the show together. Based on core Jewish values and inspired by the vision of Dora and Bryna Wasserman, the award-winning Young Actors for Young Audiences (YAYA) program forms the cornerstone of youth arts education at the Segal Centre.

 

*Auditions will take place on Monday, September 9th and Wednesday, September 11th from 4:30pm-8:30pm. Your child must register for the audition in advance.
